Treehouse Cafe

Treehouse Fair-Trade Cafe under threat

The Treehouse cafe in Bradford, the world's oldest Fair Trade cafe, will be forced to close unless it can get more customers and volunteer staff through its doors. The cafe is run by Bradford Centre for Non-Violence and is located in Desmund Tutu House on Ashgrove Road opposite Bradford University.  The building - which is owned by the Diocese of Bradford - is the location for many activities including the infamous cafe which serves organic, locally sourced, Fairtrade vegetarian and vegan food at reasonable cost.

Volunteering at 'Treehouse'. The Fairtrade, organic & vegetarian cafe.

Having volunteers enables the Treehouse to source its food ethically, while still keeping costs low. By volunteering here you can learn (or teach us!) about cooking vegetarian and vegan food. Plus you'll get a tasty free meal every time you do a shift and a 15% discount for the rest of the week. You will also meet like-minded people and have a lot of fun while doing all these things!

Volunteer roles include cooking for and staffing the café, publicity, organising events, telling stories to children in the cafe and around Bradford with the Commonweal Storytellers, helping with ongoing decorating and maintenance and many others.
