Energy and Water Efficiency Audits - Community Buildings Programme

This is a short term initiative funded by Shipley Area Committee up until March 31st 2008. Please consider whether you know of a community building which could benefit from the Programme and submit an Expression of Interest Form as soon as possible.

Big Green Challenge

The Big Green Challenge is all about unleashing new ideas for reducing carbon emissions in communities. If you’ve already got an idea at the back of your mind, sharing it with other people in your group or community could be the first step to making it a reality.

The Big Green Challenge from NESTA is a £1 million prize fund
designed to encourage and reward people working together. We want you
to develop and implement new approaches that will lead towards a 60%
reduction of CO2 emissions in your communities.

BEF annual conference

BEF will hold it's annual conference on the morning of Wednesday 27th February. The new constitution will be adopted. The morning will include a network assessment facilitated by CNet. More details to follow.

BEF Coordination Funding

BEF has been unsuccessful in a request for continuation funding from the Environment Partnership. All current funding ends on 31st March.

Bradford is Britain's Top City for Low Environmental Impact!

In a major report which ranks Britain's largest 20 cities in order of sustainability, Bradford came top in the area of Environmental Impact. Overall Bradford came 9th.

The report is by Forum for the Future and was a news story in the Guardian on Saturday 20th October 2007.

To compile the list for Environmental Impact the report uses figures for air quality, river water quality, ecological footprint and amount of waste colected per head.
